Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks

Tarpon Springs, a small town located in central Florida, is considered to be the sponge capital of the world. Tarpon Springs was settled in the 1870s by a father and daughter. Later on a businessman Hamilton Disston bought land that included Tarpon Springs from the governor, and a couple of years later an associate of Disston realized that if they could harvest the sponges growing in the bayou it would turn a great profit. Divers from Greece were brought over to dive for sponges and with them came the thriving Greek culture that is still a part of Tarpon Springs today.

Tarpon Springs has some incredible views of the bayou. But driving all the way to Tarpon Springs to see beautiful, crystal clear, blue water isn’t a necessity when you have a Pettit Pool’s fiberglass pools. Our fiberglass pools are made with superior craftsmanship that ensures a stunning pool. Enjoy your own personal oasis when you have a Pettit Pool.
